Munich-Oktoberfest

Tim and I traveled to Oktoberfest again this year! You would think that we are big drinkers since we have gone the past few years, but really we aren't! I have finally figured out that if I drink "Radlers" (1/2 lemonade, 1/2 beer), I can last survive the night. Plus for someone that doesn't care for beer it's great.

This is one of the many beer tents. In the late afternoon everyone is calm but by sundown everyone is standing on the benches prosting and singing. It is really something to see. Someone asked me if we have an equivalent in the United States and the closest thing I could come up with is Mardi Gras, and I don't even know if that is comparable.

When I think of a German this is the image I get. What a great outfit. Tim and I thought it was really neat that so many of the Germans dress in the traditional outfits. I would say that about 80% are dressed up, even the teenagers and young adults. Next year you may see Tim in lederhosen!
